Holiday Inn Express Red Deer by IHG

The room I had booked was not suitable for anyone to stay - the building's heat was not working. The space heater they had placed inside the room was not adequate. The temperatures in Red Deer were forecast to drop during my stay. In addition to this, the room had an overbearing smell of cleaning chemicals. I immediately went back to the front desk to cancel my stay. The person working at that time assured me that he would put notes on file which would result in a full refund. That has still not happened to date, with them now refusing to do so. I was very disappointed in not only the condition of this hotel, but also in their service and lack of integrity to do the right thing in giving me a full refund. Also very disappointed that Agoda does not have some kind of policy to retrieve payments in cases such as this. Having gone through so much inconvenience and time, trying to get my money back, I would never book through a 3rd party app again, let alone ever recommend anyone stay here. This hotel is obviously poorly managed. I would however recommend the Sandman Inn across the street where the staff were most accommodating, and gave me a nice room in a quieter area of the hotel.

This hotel was a bit odd with the layout. Very much like a maze, no rhyme or reason to the hallways. You will lost or go around in circles. Pool was good, kids liked the waterslide but the hot tub is closed permanently. The beds were super comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Good variety. Lots of seating and choices. We were facing the pool and our room was very loud, I would recommend asking for a room that doesn’t back onto the pool. A bit dark and dated. Our room was also very big with a cold refrigerator.

We stayed here for a family funeral and knew it might be just ok because it is a bit of an older property. What we noticed is the service and amenities are great. The rooms have everything you need, including an extraction fan in the bathrooms and brand new (as of today) light fixtures. The breakfast buffet has enough to get your day going and includes pastries, coffee, eggs and sausage. It has a pool and the front desk staff are friendly and considerate. This was a last minute choice for us and it far exceeded our expectations. This hotel is clean, comfortable and adds a little bit of extra service.

the room was decent but we had one problem if you get room#104 the plumbing is crap you have to sit there and prees and hold the button to flush the toilet for about 5 MINUTES before you can leave it. we didn't really need any service. The pool temp was decent its a little cold but its also warm too! they do have a hot tub but it closes early unlike the pool area which closes at 10PM and the opening hours are 8AM. The room was very clean no bedbugs . But one thing i will say is that shower area is was bit dirty. And if you want to make a phone call you have to use wifi because when you try to use cell serivce you get zero bars and complaint also goes out to @TELUS because if you have telus you screwed you won't get any signal in your room the only 2 places you can get 3-4 bars is if you go by the windows or step outside the room into the lobby. Overall i'd give this hotel a 4/10 would go back there again in the future

Our room was so far back it felt like walking through a maze with all our stuff, it was annoying to get to… pictures online are deceiving. It’s old. Carpet was full of stains.. pool was very underwhelming. The slide had a weird stain so the kids there were grossed out by it and wouldn’t go down it. Other kids too, not just mine. We sunk to the middle of the bed as it was clearly so old. Definitely needs lots of updating. Also we were awoken to what sounded like stomping and banging in the middle of the night above us…. However it was mostly pretty clean, the service was good, the front desk guy was nice as were the super sweet house keeping ladies and we enjoyed the complimentary breakfast & coffee bar - it was nice to eat a warm breakfast and have a high chair available for our baby.

Okay where do I even begin. Such a mess from start to finish. My daughters dad has a cc I do not, he called a week ahead to pay witj his credit card for the room to avoid paying the $250 deposit when paying with debit only, we arrive to find the staff telling us that he didnt give consent to use the cc for that, so i still had to pay the 250 dollar deposit, I do not care that it was returned, these people lied, scammed and were not honest. This was after a long 4 hour drive. The pool was DISGUSTING, scum build up along the pool walls, the slide was stained with what looked to be feces, it was also filled with scum, no maintenance in site. The room was below average as the bed frames were metal rolling bed frames from the 90's, the beds were rock solid it felt like the floor. Stained carpets. We even had 1 dirty and stained green towel left for us to use. IT GETS WORSE. after checking out, I received not ONE, NOT TWO, NOT THREE, BUT 4 personally sent text messages from a man working at the hotel, wishing us safe travels, I didnt respond to any of the 4 and he kept sending them individually. I should have screen shotted them, but I did indeed show our friends these texts and we all said, "how creepy". this location is also terrible, tons of druggies, homeless etc. We went for a walk and quickly realized it was best to go back inside. NEVER AGAIN. This entire hotel needs serious upgrading. Oh and not to mention, the pool is surrounded by other hotel rooms, so other guests can literally open their curtains and watch you swim. 🤮

We have stayed here many times and have had a wonderful experience always. Kids love their pool/slide. Great location. Breakfast was good too. Rooms are spacious which is a nice bonus.

Usually stay at the Red Deer south location, only because of the restaurant on site. I had stayed here before but it was getting old and tired. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it is and how comfortable the bed is. Still needs a major overhaul but not bad for the price.
